Jiujitsu

Instructor Kevin Spence Kevin Spence is an army veteran, assistant kids’ instructor, and has even taken the initiative to start a morning program in which he runs Jiu Jitsu classes at 6:30 am three times a week to further continue the weekly curriculum. He has a strong passion for working to positively impact the youth and hopes to assist in leadership for the next generation. Current rank purple belt and been training Jiu Jitsu for almost 5 years.

This program emphasizes on learning through practice rather than belt, with students training together across all levels of experience focusing on fundamental concepts, repetition and live application in a supportive environment.

  • Concept-driven Jiu-Jitsu – focused on core ideas, problem-solving, and understanding why techniques work.
  • Skill-based Jiu-Jitsu – progress is measured by ability and confidence, not belt color.
  • Open-level learning class – everyone trains together, with techniques scaled to the person, not the rank.
  • Developmental Jiu-Jitsu – built around growth, mat time, and consistent practice.
  • Non-hierarchical Jiu-Jitsu – no “this is for white belts / this is for blue belts,” just learning and training.
